Libraries
In 1932, the first free public library was established for Fayetteville residents. Ten years later, service was extended to all residents of Cumberland County. Today, the Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center has more than one million pieces in its print collections and offers services for readers of all ages. There's story time for tots, book clubs for teens and adults, and a variety of free classes and literary events. During the year, the Friends of the Library sponsors book sales and guest authors. For more information about the library and its programs, go to www.cumberland.lib.nc.us or call 484-1580.
