Hunting Preserves

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission manages 2 million acres of game land where it is possible to hunt for deer, bears, waterfowl, turkey and small game. An interactive map of state game lands and a reference guide are available at www.ncwildlife.org.

Angola Bay Game Land: Duplin and Pender counties. Deer, bear, turkey, small game, waterfowl. Open six days a week. No camping. 24,483 acres.

Bladen Lakes State Forest Game Land: Bladen County on N.C. 242. Deer, bear, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl. Open three days a week. Camping in designated areas only. 32,363 acres.

Bullard and Branch hunting preserve: 300 acres in Robeson County. Small game. Open three days a week. No camping.

Cape Fear River Wetlands: Pender County. 5,281 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, waterfowl, warm water fish. Open six days a week. Unrestricted camping.

Columbus County Game Land: Brunswick and Columbus counties. 9,432 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, waterfowl. Open three days a week. No camping.

Green Swamp: Brunswick County on N.C. 211. 15,430 acres. Deer, turkey, small game. Open six days a week. No camping.

Harris: Chatham, Harnett and Wake counties on Harris Lake. 13,937 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, waterfowl. Open six days a week. No camping.

Lee County: Game land off N.C. 42 at the Cape Fear River. 2,421 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, waterfowl, fishing. Open six days a week. No camping.

Nicholson Creek: Hoke County off U.S. 401. 1,027 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, dove, fishing. Open three days a week. No camping.

Rhodes Pond: Cumberland and Harnett counties on U.S. 301 near Godwin. 461 acres. Permit only area. Deer, small game, waterfowl, fishing. No camping.

Robeson County Game Land: Two miles off N.C. 130 on Secondary Road 2455. 42 acres. Deer, small game, waterfowl. Open three days a week. No camping.

Rockfish Creek: Hoke County on N.C. 211. 2,504 acres. Deer, turkey, small game. Open three days a week. No camping.

Sampson County Game Land: Sampson County off N.C. 242 near Roseboro. 2,281 acres. Open three days a week. Deer, small game. No camping.

Sandhills Game Land: Hoke, Moore, Richmond and Scotland counties. 61,225 acres. Deer, turkey, small game, dove, fishing. Camping in designated areas.

Suggs Mill Pond: Bladen and Cumberland counties off N.C. 53. 9,588 acres. Permit only area. Deer, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl, fishing. Camping in designated areas.

Sutton Lake Game Land: Brunswick and New Hanover counties off U.S. 421. 2,607 acres. Deer, small game, waterfowl, fishing. Open six days a week. No camping.
